Westside School Bond issue
LaReesa Wolfenbarger
The Westside School Bond issue is slated for a May 2015 ballot. Right now the District is engaged in reviewing reports about the functional and physical needs of the facilities. Dr. Blane McCann, superintendent of the District, presented at Swanson Elementary School in November. At that point in time, designating Swanson Elementary as a three-section school (three classes per grade) was one option for meeting the internal growth projected. Swanson currently has two grades with three sections and the other five grades have two sections each. While internal growth is projected, the superintendent did not have answers about where in the District the highest growth was projected to occur.
In response to the Superintendent's presentation and the Q&A session, we have sent the School Board and the Superintendent a letter. The letter was sent to neighbor's on our e-mail list and they were encouraged to use the letter as a starting point for giving the School Board feedback on the plans for Swanson Elementary School.
